Umpiring Signals and their meanings in Cricket - PakWatanWeb

The officials in charge of a game of cricket are called umpires, and they have a whole array of signals to indicate the decisions they make during the course of a game. These are the most important.

• Right arm outstretched. No-ball. This signal indicates that the bowler’s foot has landed over the front line of the bowling crease and the delivery is deemed a no-ball.
• Both arms outstretched. Wide. This signal shows that the ball was out of reach of the batsman or woman and has been adjudged a wide. One run goes onto the batting team’s extras score, and the ball must be re-bowled.
• Right leg raised and clasped by the right hand. Leg byes. This sign indicates that the ball hit the pads of the batsman or woman, not the bat, and that the runs completed are adjudged to be leg byes. These runs are not credited to the individual player’s score but to the team’s, as extras.
• Right arm raised skywards. Byes. This shows that the ball has been missed by both the batsman or woman and the wicket-keeper. Any runs scored are deemed to be byes. Byes, like leg byes, are counted as extras.
• Right hand and arm swept across the body. Four runs. This signal signifies that the ball has been hit all the way to the boundary. The ball has bounced on its way to the boundary and four runs have been scored.
• Both arms held above the head and index fingers outstretched. Six runs. The ball has been hit over the boundary, without the ball bouncing. Six runs are awarded for this fab feat.
• Index finger raised towards the batsman or woman. Out. The umpire has given the batsman or woman out and they have to leave the crease and take the long, lonely walk back to the pavilion.
• Right arm held at out horizontally then flexed back to touch the shoulder. Short run. One of the batsmen or women has failed to touch their bat down beyond the front line of the bowling crease when going for a run. This is deemed a short run and the scorer is being told to take that run off the score.

Brief Hisotry of Squash In Pakistan - PakWatanWeb

Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) is the national governing of sport of Squash in the Country. The Federation is affiliated with the World Squash Federation (WSF) and Asian Squash Federation (ASF).

Squash is the only individual sport in which Pakistan has made her presence felt at the international level. Ever since her debut in 1950, Pakistan has remained among the top squash playing countries of the world. The man who put Pakistan on the squash map of the world was Hashim Khan, who descended on the squash scene in 1950 to baffle the world with his artistry, wizardry and amazing speed on the squash court. He went on to found a dynasty which dominated the squash world for nearly three decades. The names of such great maestros as brother Azam Khan, cousin Roshan Khan, son Sharif Khan, nephew Mohibullah, Qamar Zaman, Jahangir Khan (son of Roshan Khan) and Jansher Khan, have adorned the Squash firmament during the last thirty-odd years.

Presently, Air Chief Rao Qamar Suleman is the President and Wing Cdr. Abdul Wahab Marwar as General Secretary of the Federation.

Achievements:
World Open (individual) Squash Championships:

• Mr Jahangir Khan won the World Open title for 6 times in 1981, 82, 83, 84, 85 and 1988. 
• Mr Jansher Khan won the World Open title for 8 times in 1987, 89, 90, 92, 93, 94, 95 and 96.
   

World Junior Squash Championships

• Pakistan won 4 championships out of the total 15 championships.
   

World Mens’ Team Championships

• Pakistan won 6 championships out of the total 23 championships.
   

Asian Junior Squash Championships

• Pakistan won 12 championships out of the total 14 championships.
   

Asian Senior Squash Championships

• Pakistan won 11 championships out of the total 14 championships.
   

SOUTH ASIAN GAMES

• 10th South Asian Federation Games 2006, Sri Lanka. Mansoor Zaman won one Gold medal and Aamir Atlas won one Silver medal in Individual Events. Pakistan won one Gold Medal in Team Event as well.
• 11th South Asian Games 2011, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Aamir Atlas won one Gold medal and Farhan Mehboob won one Silver medal in the Individual Event

Brief Introduction of Pakistan Field Hockey - PakWatanWeb

Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) is the national governing body of sport of Hockey in the Country. PHF is affiliated with the International Hockey Federation (FIH).

In 1948, after having been affiliated with the FIH, the PHF started its activities. Raja Ghazanfar Ali Khan and Mr. Baseer Ali Sheikh were the first President and Honorary Secretary of the PHF. In the meantime Pakistan Hockey Team participated in various international events and it gained tremendous recognition.

From 1978 onwards, national and international activities of National Senior, National Junior and Women Hockey Teams were increased manifolds. PHF introduced the World Cup and the Champion Trophy Tournaments, which are now rated next to the Olympics.

Presently, Mr. Qasim Zia and Muhammad Asif Bajwa are the President and General Secretary of the PHF.

• In 1956, Pakistan won one Silver medal
• In 1960, Pakistan achieved one Gold medal

Field Hockey is the national game of Pakistan and wearing green shirts represent the Pakistan Hockey Federation in international field hockey competitions.  Even though field hockey is the national sport of Pakistan but it is less famous than cricket. Pakistan was at the top of their game when they played Australia in Rome in 1960. Pakistan won their last Olympic gold at Los Angeles in 1984, and their last Olympic medal - a bronze - at Barcelona in 1992. They won their last hockey World Cup in 1994. They also won gold medal in the 2010 Asian Games, but their performances before and after that event have been dismal.
Pakistan's hockey players too have seen times of greatness, winning three Olympic gold and four World Cup titles, which is still a record. Experts say the decline of Asian hockey coincides with the advent of artificial turf that gained currency in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It changed the dynamics of Asian hockey, rendering the dribble-and-dodge game of short passes that Indians and Pakistanis were so good at completely obsolete.
Pakistan has been one of the most successful teams in international competitions, having won a world record four Hockey World Cup titles in 1971, 1978, 1982 and 1994. They have also come in second place twice. Pakistan has won the Men's Hockey Gold Medal in the Olympics a total of three times in 1960, 1968, and 1984.
